Top 5 Winter Wedding Trends 2018
Temperatures are dropping, Michael Buble is defrosting, days are getting shorter and Christmas is slowly creeping its way into the shops of Warwick. Winter is just around the corner, and at Nailcote Hall there is nothing we love more than a winter wedding. From the moonlit evening celebrations to the snow-dusted backdrops in wedding photos, it is a truly wonderful experience. Our wedding planners have seen it all, so they’ve put together five wedding trends you can expect to see this winter.
Long Sleeved Wedding Dresses
Thanks to Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle’s a-line wedding gowns, it wouldn’t be surprising to see more brides opting for a long-sleeved wedding dress. Long sleeves are a sophisticated touch to a wedding dress, and really compliments the bride’s figure. Another added benefit is that a long-sleeved wedding dress will keep you much warmer, making a perfect choice if you wish to have your wedding reception in a heated marquee on garden grounds.
A Hot Chocolate Bar
We predict that brides and grooms will opt for a hot chocolate bar so
that their guests can beat the cold winter snap and enjoy a tasty
beverage. Hot chocolate bars are perfect for kids and you can easily
turn them into a more adult-friendly option by adding Irish creams,
coffee liqueur and other alcoholic drinks. What makes this trend so fun
is that you can really personalise it - you can choose to have stunning afternoon teaware, colour coordinated candy canes, personalised straws and unique DIY signs
This year we’ve seen more and more brides opt for a fashionable wedding cape to compliment their dress instead of a veil, and we love it! Throughout history, capes have always had a magical and empowering feel - perfect for brides who are about to make one of the biggest changes of their lives! What we love about wedding capes is how versatile they are. If you’re after a whimsical or bohemian style, then a lace cape will do exactly that. Should you desire a more clean cut, classic look then a satin white cape will do the trick. Added bonus, it will also keep you warm during the cold winter months, and you’ll feel like a superhero.
We’ve seen a definite peak in food experiences becoming an integral part
of a couple’s wedding reception, and it’s a trend we’d like to see
continue. After all, eating is a universal experience that brings people
together! We are seeing more couples move away from the traditional
three-course wedding meal and opt for sushi, pizzas and even donut
walls. We’ve even seen couples go for fine dining options. At Nailcote
Hall, our exquisite chefs will cater to your needs and orchestrate a
delicious wedding menu - no request is too big or small!
The After Party
We’re seeing wedding ceremonies and receptions getting a little shorter,
and couples choosing to have a pretty big after party (after the
wedding reception of course!). After the kids have gone to bed, this is
when the couple pulls out the big guns! From having a marquee with their
favourite DJ and an open bar, to hiring a lounge style bar with a
luxurious selection of gins or whiskeys, we predict that winter weddings
will be all about the after party!
